Covidien Mesh - Every Patient is Unique

Every patient is unique. Ever Hernia Repair matters.

Parietex ProGrip™ Mesh:
progrip covidien mesh
Parietex ProGrip™ Mesh is the only self-gripping, semi resorbable, lightweight mesh available for open inguinal hernia repair. Designed with input from surgeons and with patient comfort in mind, Parietex ProGrip™ is the first biocomponent mesh comprised of monofilament polyester and a resorbable polylactic acid (PLA) gripping system which perfects true tension–free repair.

Features and Benefits
Bicomponent mesh with monofilaments of polyester (PE) and polylactic acid (PLA)

    • Hydrophilic polyester monofilament results in fast and intimate tissue in-growth
    • Polyester’s large pore size and monofilament fiber composition works with the body’s natural systems to improve tissue response and reduce foreign material reaction
    • Light weight mesh (38 g/m2): reduced amount of material after resorption
    • Optimal porosity (pore size: 1.7 x 1.1 mm) for quick and optimized tissue in-growth
    • Isoelastic textile designed with patient comfort in mind

Permacol™ Biologic Implants - Sold only in USA

permacol covidien mesh
Enhanced porcine collagen for complex hernias and abdominal wall repairs.

You work hard to control as many variables as possible to ensure successful patient outcomes. For complex hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstruction, consider Permacol™ Biologic Implant as your first choice biologic implant.

Trust Permacol™ Biologic Implant to combine the clinical advantages of a biologic with the strength, size, and intraoperative efficiency of a synthetic in an acellular porcine dermal implant.

Permacol™ A Better Biologic Permacol™ Biologic Implant is porcine dermis from which cells, cell debris, DNA and RNA are removed, leaving a 3-D collagen matrix that is then crosslinked for enhanced strength and durability. It is a biologic before the crosslinking process occurs, and it is a better biologic afterward.

Unlike synthetic mesh materials, Permacol™ Biologic Implant does not encapsulate so the graft is neovascularized, is safe for use against the bowel, and does not promote adhesion formation. As an interpositional graft, Permacol™ Biologic Implant provides a benefit to patients who have poor tissue quality or who lack sufficient native tissue to accomplish an adequate repair.

Permacol™ Biologic Implant also offers advantages over many other biologics. Human cadaveric grafts and other non-crosslinked grafts may have initial success to due to rapid tissue remodeling, but ultimately result in loss of tensile strength, increased tissue laxity and high recurrence rates that require additional surgical revisions.

AbsorbaTack™ 5 mm Fixation Device: Absorbable Fixation for Hernia Repair

AbsorbaTack™ leaves no metal behind and is the dependable choice for temporary mesh fixation in soft tissue repair. The launch of the AbsorbaTack™ 5 mm fixation device a little over one year ago brought widespread use of the absorbable tack fixation to the hernia repair community and millions of our absorbable tacks are in the market1 making a difference in patients’ lives.

AbsorbaTack™ 5 mm Fixation Device leaves less foreign material behind than non-absorbable fixation device products, eliminating pain that may be associated with permanent fixation and allowing for fast and strong tissue ingrowth.

Now available with 10 tacks

The 5mm AbsorbaTack™ device is a sterile, single use device for fixation of prosthetic material, such as mesh, to soft tissue.

The tack is constructed of an absorbable synthetic polyester copolymer derived from lactic and glycolic acid. The device is offered with 10 or 20 absorbable tacks.

"Sometimes there's nothing better than nothing"

Innovative:
• Absorbable fixation leaves no metal behind.
• No sharps needed to place tack—patients and surgeons will not be exposed to additional sharps.
• Innovative black dot feature facilitates visualization.

Intuitive:
• Easy-to-use — similar to the “gold standard” ProTack™ .
• Ratcheted handle provides tactile feedback when firing.
• Multiple tack load options for versatility.

Absorbable:
• Absorbable material provides secure, temporary mesh fixation.
• Significant absorbtion rate seen in period from 3 to 5 months. The polymer absorbtion is essentially complete prior to 1 year.
• Reduces foreign material left in patient over time.
